A glance into the past

Building on our history

Our History

Slate Falls Farms has a rich history dating back to the late 1700s. Situated near the Appalachian Trail and Delaware Water Gap the property was a significant and prosperous dairy operation. Like many smaller farms it has been challenged by changes in production,  distribution and consumers tastes. We are dedicated to building an operation that brings today's modern but sustainable practices while offering great tasting and healthy products.

Our Herd

We  pride ourselves on building a herd through natural breeding, sustainable inputs and the ability to live on pasture.

Our herd is centered around the British White Park breed - notable for it's white hide and black points. This breed is extremely efficient and hardy, helping us to practice sustainable farming methods.

Our steers are raised on pasture and supplemented with a mineral and grain diet to promote natural growth, free of artificial growth hormones.

Developing our farm

We are working hard to make sure our herd is as efficient as possible. Our brood cows are smaller framed but produce more milk than your average beef cow as they are considered a dual purpose breed.

They raise nice calves while still staying at an ideal weight themselves. This means they don't need grain to keep up, they get enough nutrients from grazing in the summer and hay in the winter to stay happy and healthy.

If you would like to learn more, please contact us as we would be happy to chat!

Local supporting local

We make the grain we feed our steers, pigs, and chickens right on the farm.

Not only do we know exactly what goes into our grain, but we buy all of the feed components from local producers.

When you purchase from us, you're not only supporting our family farm. You're supporting other families in your very own community as well!
